Payton Bridge Recognized by USC, NEWISA

WESTON, Mass. - Coming off a season that resulted in a second consecutive All-Conference selection, senior midfielder Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) has been recognized by both United Soccer Coaches (USC) and the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA).

Bridge was selected to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's All-Region I Third Team, the second straight year a Regis College student-athlete has been recognized by the national organization after Tia Zanardi was voted All-Region Second Team after the 2022 season. Bridge has also been chosen to participate in the 2023 NEWISA Senior Bowl Saturday, Dec. 2, at Clark University's Granger Athletic Complex in Worcester, Mass., starting at 12 p.m.

A Third Team All-GNAC selection this year, Bridge started all 18 matches and was called upon to be a steady presence as the play transitioned from defense to offense. She converted on penalty kick opportunities three times and was on the pitch all 90 minutes on 13 occasions, averaging close to 87 minutes per match.

Bridge has also been a stellar performer in the classroom, recently earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors for the second consecutive year as well as Academic All-GNAC recognition on two occasions so far in her collegiate career. She is majoring in elementary education and humanities with a minor in Spanish.

Bridge was voted Second Team All-GNAC in 2022 and has helped guide the Pride to a 27-17-8 (.596) overall record over the past three years, including a 24-10-7 (.670) mark within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Fellow senior Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) was also voted to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl, but D'Sa will not participate.

The 2023 NCAA Division III NEWISA Senior Bowl Selections features 30 players from colleges and universities across New England who will join with players from NCAA Division I and II colleges for one final game.

The Regis College women's soccer team completed the 2023 season with a 9-5-4 overall record (.611), including an 8-3-4 mark (.667) within the GNAC.
