Several Pride Players Earn All-GNAC Recognition

GNAC WOMEN'S SOCCER POSTSEASON HONORS - FULL STORY

WINTHROP, Mass. - After finishing fifth in the regular season standings thanks to a seven-match unbeaten streak to close out the regular season, the Regis College women's soccer team saw several players receive recognition in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason honors, as announced Tuesday, Nov. 7, by the league office.

First-year forward Avary Hall (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) was voted Second Team All-GNAC and to the GNAC All-Rookie Team after finishing the season with eight goals and four assists for 20 total points. Hall scored two goals twice in a match this year, first against Norwich Oct. 11 before repeating the feat against Simmons Oct. 21. She also earned one goal and one assist at Lasell Oct. 18 and at Dean Oct. 24, receiving GNAC Rookie of the Week recognition after her performances against Lasell and Simmons.

"Avary's work ethic is exemplary, and her impact emanates from her application. She has had a substantial impact on our program, but this is just the beginning, and we're excited for her future growth and success," Head Coach Alex Vokes Macpherson said.

Senior defender Elisa D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) was also voted Second Team All-GNAC, as she played a significant role within a Pride defense that allowed just one goal per match. D'Sa started all 15 matches she appeared in, featuring five shutouts. She was on the field the entire 90 minutes 10 times and played at least 75 minutes in 14 of the 15 contests, averaging 85.5 minutes per match.

"We are pleased that Elisa's impact has been recognized at the conference level, as she has been incredibly consistent over the last two seasons," said Vokes Macpherson. "Elisa is a highly competitive defender who will leave a significant legacy with our program."

Senior midfielder Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) has been recognized by the GNAC coaches for the second straight year, receiving Third Team All-GNAC honors. One of this year's team captains, Bridge started all 18 matches this season for the Pride and was called upon to be a steady presence as the play transitioned from defense to offense. She converted on penalty kick opportunities three times and was on the pitch all 90 minutes on 13 occasions, averaging close to 87 minutes per match.

"Payton's influence is immeasurable. Her position doesn't lend itself to the stat books, but her role has been integral to any team success we have experienced. An outstanding leader, she is fully deserving to be a two-time All-Conference player," Vokes Macpherson said.

First-year forward Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) joins Hall on the GNAC Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team after leading the Pride with nine goals, four assists, and 22 total points. Curran scored two goals in the team's 3-0 victory at Anna Maria Sept. 27, and then she notched a hat trick with three goals against Norwich Oct. 11. She earned at least one point in each of the Pride's last four matches, scoring the first goal of the GNAC quarterfinal against Colby-Sawyer just 3:23 into the contest.

"Colleen's successful debut season is a product of her exceptional attitude," Vokes Macpherson added. "As our top scorer and overall points leader, she has undoubtedly made her mark, but she is eager to improve and has considerable potential."

Senior defender Ashley Morin (Thompson, Conn.) has been selected to the GNAC Women's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team after averaging over 84 minutes per match on the field for the Pride. She played a major part in the squad's eight shutouts this season while completing a collegiate career in which she did not receive a yellow or red card in 48 total appearances. Also a team captain this season, Morin led the Pride to their fifth consecutive appearance in the GNAC Women's Soccer Tournament.

"Ashley has epitomized our program values and has been a tremendous leader this season. She has competed in such a way that proudly represents our team, institution, and conference," Vokes Macpherson said.

The Regis College women's soccer team completed the 2023 season with a 9-5-4 overall record (.611), including an 8-3-4 mark (.667) within the GNAC.
