Women’s Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Three

PAXTON, Mass. - Regis College controlled play from the start of the match, extending its unbeaten streak to five matches with its third consecutive 3-0 victory, this time over Anna Maria College in a Great Northeast Athletc Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match at Caparso Field.

The Pride quickly gained possession of the ball and started running its offensive attack, but the AMCATS kept them off the scoreboard early in the match. In the 14th minute, Colleen Curran (Woburn, Mass.) took a shot that was stopped by Anna Maria goalie Kortney Clark, but Curran quickly corralled the rebound and found the back of the net for her third goal in as many matches.

It would remain a 1-0 margin until the 61st minute when Curran gathered the ball close to the net and eluded Clark with a shot for her second goal of the night. Less than two minutes later, after Anna Maria committed a foul within the 18-yard box to give Regis a penalty kick attempt, Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) was successful to extend the Pride advantage.

Regis finished the match with a 15-1 advantage in shots on goal, led by Curran with six shots on goal. Clark kept the AMCATS as close as she could, making 12 saves during the contest. Cristina Nazario (Isla Verde, Puerto Rico) started in net for the Pride and played the first half before Linda Johnson (Shapleigh, Maine) took over after halftime and was credited with one save.

Regis College (4-3-2, 3-2-2 GNAC) hosts University of Saint Joseph in a key league matchup Saturday, Sept. 30, starting at 1:30 p.m. as part of Regis Fest.
