Women’s Soccer Loses at Johnson and Wales

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In rainy conditions, Regis College continually worked to stay with Johnson and Wales University, but the Wildcats scored once in each half to defeat the Pride, 2-0, Wednesday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer match at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletic Complex.

The match remained scoreless until the 32nd minute when Angelina Carrion's free kick found the back of the net. In the 59th minute, Jessica Lee sent a crossing pass from the right side through the 18-yard box, and Trina Capezza was able to direct it into the net for an insurance goal.

Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) kept the Pride in the contest as she finished with a career-high 10 saves while playing the entire match. Of Mazo's 10 saves, seven of them came in the first half as Regis withstood the offensive pressure from the home team to remain within striking distance.

Regis College (1-3, 0-2 GNAC) hosts Saint Joseph's College Saturday afternoon, Sept. 16, beginning at 1 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
