Women’s Soccer Places Five on All-GNAC Teams

WINTHROP, Mass. - After earning the most conference victories in the history of the Regis College women's soccer program with nine, the Pride placed five student-athletes on the various All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason teams, as the results of the coaches' voting were announced Monday, Nov. 7, by the league office.

Senior Tia Zanardi (Haverhill, Mass.) was one of three defenders across the league selected First Team All-GNAC, the first Regis women's soccer player to receive First Team recognition in any conference since 2014. Zanardi led the Pride defense to eight shutouts during the season, posting a team goals against average of 1.00, third-best in the GNAC.

Starting all 18 matches this year, Zanardi also collected her first two career assists with helpers against Colby-Sawyer Oct. 1 and at Saint Joseph's College Oct. 22. She played all 90 minutes in 14 of the team's 18 contests, including the last nine matches in a row, averaging 82.1 minutes per match on the pitch.

Junior midfielder Payton Bridge (Norton, Mass.) received Second Team All-GNAC accolades after appearing in all 18 matches for the Pride, including 17 starts. She helped stabilize the Regis midfield as the team won 10 matches overall, the sixth time within the last 10 seasons the Pride have reached double figures in victories. Bridge averaged close to 75 minutes per match on the field, including nine contests playing all 90 minutes.

Senior forward Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) earned Third Team All-GNAC recognition for the second consecutive season after leading the Pride with eight goals, eight assists, 24 total points, and 57 total shots, including 24 shots on goal. Lovell moved into fifth place on the Regis single-season assists list, into a tie for sixth place on the Pride single-season points list, and into a tie for ninth place on the single-season goals list. She scored the game-winning goal in four matches, including 1-0 victories at Curry Sept. 3 and against Anna Maria Sept. 21.

Senior midfielder Aria Ulmer (Henniker, N.H.) also received Third Team All-GNAC honors as well as selection to the GNAC Women's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team. Ulmer finished with four goals and one assist for nine total points as she appeared in 16 matches, starting the final 15 contests in a row. She opened the scoring with penalty kick goals at Norwich Sept. 16 and against Rivier Sept. 28, plus she also earned tallies against Colby-Sawyer Oct. 1 and at Saint Joseph's College Oct. 22, plus she assisted on the game-winning goal against Anna Maria Sept. 21.

Goalkeeper Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) was voted to the GNAC Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team after posting a 7-2-1 record with a 0.86 goals against average and an .830 save percentage with 44 total saves. She earned two clean sheets herself and was also part of five other Regis shutouts during the season. Van Cott held GNAC champion Johnson and Wales to half its average scoring total while making a season-high 10 saves as she is currently second in the league in goals against average and fourth in save percentage.

Regis College completed the 2022 season with a 10-6-2 (.611) overall record, including a 9-3-1 (.731) mark within the GNAC to finish in a tie for fourth place in the regular season standings, the Pride's highest placement since joining the league in 2017.
