Women’s Soccer Wins Third Straight GNAC Matchup

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College defeated Elms College, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's soccer action at Regis Stadium to improve to a record of 8-2 in conference play.

Regis scored the game's only goal in the 24th minute of play when Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) passed the ball across the front of the net from the left side of the box, finding Maria Toumbouras (Walpole, Mass.) who took a sliding shot that managed to sneak by the Blazers goalie and give the Pride a one-goal advantage.

Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) started in net for Regis, making three saves in the first half until Daniela Mazo (Bridgeport, Conn.) took over in goal for the second half. Gianna Liquori played the entire game as goalie for Elms, making three saves during the contest.

Elms outshot Regis by a margin of 13-10 with both teams finishing with three shots on goal. The Pride also created six corner kick opportunities compared to four for the Blazers.

Regis College (9-4-1, 8-2 GNAC) returns to play against GNAC opponent Emmanuel College on the road Wednesday, Oct. 19, beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Elms hosts Colby-Sawyer on the same day, also at 7:00 p.m.
