Women’s Soccer Holds On for Win in GNAC Showdown

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - Regis College edged out the University of Saint Joseph, defeating the Blue Jays, 1-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday afternoon at USJ Soccer Field.

Allison Meade (Stoneham, Mass.) scored the eventual game-winner at the end of the first half, scoring her second goal in three games off an assist from Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) with only 23 seconds remaining before halftime to give Regis a one-goal advantage that they would hold for the remainder of the game.

While both teams had nine shots, the Pride controlled the game with six shots on goal compared to only one by the Blue Jays. Regis had four corner kicks compared to five for USJ.

Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) earned the shutout win in goal for the Pride, making one save, while Chandler Douglas did her best to keep the Blue Jays in the game, making six saves in the loss.

Regis College (7-4-1, 6-2 GNAC) next plays on Wednesday, Oct. 12, with a GNAC matchup at Simmons beginning at 7:00 p.m. before returning home on Saturday, Oct. 15, to host Elms starting at 4:00 p.m.
