Women's Soccer Edges Out Anna Maria

WESTON, Mass. - Regis College defeated Anna Maria in a one-goal contest Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's soccer action at Regis Stadium.

The game-winning goal came just two minutes into the second half when Aria Ulmer (Henniker, N.H.) sent a pass into the box, finding Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.) who scored her fourth goal of the season to put the Pride on top and ensure the win. Lovell has scored three goals in her last two games with two goals coming from the previous contest against Norwich.

The first half was a stalemate with Anna Maria struggling to shoot the ball, taking only two shots compared to the Pride's eight. Overall Regis outshot the visitors by a margin of 18 to nine as the action picked up in the second half. The Pride also outpaced Anna Maria in terms of corners, taking eight compared to three for the AMCATS.

Lovell led the offense recording three shots on goal for the Pride while Olympia Meyers represented the majority of the AMCATS offense with two shots on goal.

Cassidy Van Cott (Santa Monica, Calif.) was perfect in goal for Regis, earning the win with four saves while Alice Yokabaskas made six saves for the AMCATS.

Regis College (4-2-1, 3-0 GNAC) returns to Regis Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 24, to take on Johnson & Wales during Regis Fest.
