
Women’s Soccer Announces Captains for 2022 Season
WESTON, Mass. – Regis College head women's soccer coach Alex Macpherson has announced that senior midfielder Hailey Lovell (Wakefield, Mass.), senior defender Tia Zanardi (Haverhill, Mass.), and junior defender Samantha Perkins (Whitman, Mass.) have been named captains for the 2022 season.
Lovell earned Third Team All-GNAC honors last year after finishing the 2021 season with a team-high 33 shots on goal. She scored a goal in each of the Pride's victories over conference foes Dean and Colby-Sawyer, plus she collected the game-tying goal in the 80th minute during Regis' 2-2 draw at Elms. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, Lovell is majoring in nursing.
Zanardi started all 16 matches for the Pride last season, playing a significant role in the team's defensive effort. She helped the squad post five shutouts during the 2021 campaign, all coming against conference opponents as the team finished with a 0.97 goals against average during the GNAC regular season. Also a two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, Zanardi is majoring in therapeutic recreation with a minor in psychology.
Perkins also started every match for the Pride in 2021, her first season of collegiate competition, finishing the year with 13 shots on goal, one goal, and one assist. After earning her first career collegiate point with an assist at Colby-Sawyer, she scored her first career goal to solidify Regis' 3-1 victory over Emmanuel. Perkins, the 2021-22 Regis Female Sophomore Student-Athlete of the Year, is majoring in nursing with a minor in psychology.
The Regis College women's soccer team heads to Milton, Mass., to face Curry College Saturday, Sept. 3, starting at 12 p.m. The Pride will then host Keene State College Wednesday night, Sept. 7, beginning at 7 p.m.
Regis College sponsors 20 intercollegiate sports, including women's soccer, within NCAA Division III as part of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.
