Fall 2021 Senior Spotlight - Women's Soccer

WESTON, Mass. – Before its match against Simmons University Oct. 13, the Regis College women's soccer team celebrated its senior class in a special presentation.

 

Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) appeared in 44 matches in net for the Pride, making 40 starts and totaling over 3,000 minutes between the pipes. She compiled an 18-15-1 record with a 1.52 goals against average and a .788 save percentage with 190 total saves. She received Third Team All-GNAC honors in 2018 and was selected as Regis' representative on the GNAC Women's Soccer All-Sportsmanship Team this year. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, Attridge is currently serving as the vice president of Regis SAAC. She will graduate with a bachelor's degree in biology and intends to pursue a graduate degree in microbiology and virology before applying to veterinary school with an eye on becoming a veterinarian and researcher.

 

Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H.) also played the goalkeeper position for the Pride, making 10 starts and appearing in 31 matches overall, including one contest as a field player Sept. 18 against Albertus Magnus. Totaling over 1,600 minutes in net, Caldwell finished her career with an 8-7-1 record, a 1.90 goals against average, and a .688 save percentage with 75 total saves. She collected a career-high eight saves against Lasell Oct. 16, 2019. She finished with seven saves three other times, including twice this season. Caldwell was a part of four shutouts during the 2021 campaign. She will graduate with a bachelor's degree in global business management, plus she has minors in data analytics and sports management.

 

Valerie Gordon (Hudson, N.H.) transferred to Regis from Worcester State and appeared in 29 matches for the Pride, including 19 starts. In 2019, she collected a goal and an assist at Framingham State, followed by a goal against Lesley. She also picked up goals that season against conference foes Rivier and Norwich. This season, she assisted on the only goal of the match during the Pride's 1-0 victory over Simmons, plus she earned an assist on the team's first tally in its 2-0 win over USJ. In her collegiate career, Gordon earned five goals and four assists for 14 total points. A two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, she will graduate with a bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography and hopes to become an ultrasound technologist.

 

Katharine Ives (Arlington, Mass.) appeared in 25 matches for the Pride, including two starts. She scored her first career goal on a penalty kick during the team's shutout victory over Anna Maria Oct. 6, 2018. Ives made her first career start in Regis' 3-2 victory over Rhode Island College Sept. 17, 2019, and she collected an assist later that season against Rivier. This past season, she earned another start against Emmanuel Sept. 25, a 3-1 Pride victory. During her career, Ives has played as an outside back, outside forward, and central forward. She is a two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree and a consistent member of the Dean's List. Ives will graduate with a bachelor's degree in biology with a pre-med track and intends to pursue a career in orthopedic surgery.

 

Alex Maher (Reading, Mass.) started 37 of the 41 matches she appeared in for the Pride. In 2018, she scored her first two career goals during a 6-2 victory over Norwich and then added another tally against Framingham State. Starting 18 of 19 matches in 2019, she picked up another brace with two goals at Framingham State, plus she scored goals against conference rivals Rivier and Lasell. This season, Maher started the first seven matches of the year before missing the rest of the campaign with an injury. She collected an assist during the Pride's 5-2 victory at Colby-Sawyer Sept. 22. A two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree, Maher will graduate with her nursing degree and intends to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse.

 

Miya Nishibun (Honolulu, Hawaii) played 15 matches in 2019 and then started 15 of 16 contests this past season. She earned the first of her three hat tricks during the Pride's 4-0 victory at Dean Sept. 11. Nishibun then scored 10 goals in four matches, starting with another hat trick at Colby-Sawyer Sept. 22. After consecutive two-goal performances against Emmanuel and Anna Maria, she notched a hat trick against Norwich Oct. 2, setting the Regis single-season goals record with her 13th tally of the year and earning Second Team All-GNAC recognition. A 2020-21 Academic All-GNAC honoree, Nishibun will graduate with a bachelor's degree in global business management along with minors in economics and data analytics.

 

Kerri Urquhart (Burlington, Mass.) appeared in 49 matches for the Pride, including 44 starts in the Regis backline. She received her first career start at Suffolk Sept. 8, 2018. Her first career collegiate point came as an assist against Norwich Oct. 10, 2018. In 2019, Urquhart picked up assists in victories over Rivier and Norwich. This season, she started all 16 matches and scored her first career goal as the Pride defeated Colby-Sawyer. Her fourth career assist came at Anna Maria. She was also a significant part of five shutouts this season. She received Third Team All-GNAC honors from the conference coaches. A two-time Academic All-GNAC selection, Urquhart will graduate with her nursing degree and hopes to work in the ICU as a critical care nurse.

 

Julia Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) played in 45 matches for the Pride, making nine appearances in the starting lineup, including seven starts this season. Her first career start came against Eastern Nazarene Sept. 4, 2018, and she earned her first career point with an assist at Anna Maria later that season. She would score her first career goal at Lasell Oct. 13, 2018. She also scored a goal at Simmons Oct. 2, 2019, and against Simmons this season to help defeat the Sharks Oct. 13, 1-0. Walsh is a two-time Academic All-GNAC honoree who will receive her bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology. She is planning to continue her education at Regis and pursue her master's degree in education.

The Regis College women's soccer team finished the 2021 season with an 8-6-2 overall record, including a 7-4-2 mark within the GNAC. The Pride qualified for the GNAC Tournament for the third consecutive time it has been held.
