Caldwell Named GNAC Goalkeeper of Week

WINTHROP, Mass. – Entering high-pressure situations at the start of the second half in both matches last week, senior Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

On Senior Night last Wednesday against Simmons, Caldwell made two saves early in the second half to preserve Regis' one-goal advantage. She then punched out an entry pass on a Shark corner kick in the final minute to clinch the Pride's 1-0 victory.

Saturday at Elms, after Regis had tied the match at 2-2, Caldwell made three saves in the final eight minutes of regulation to keep the contest a tie and force overtime. Caldwell would make three more saves in the first overtime period, finishing with a season-high seven saves in the contest.

Caldwell has appeared in seven matches in net this season for the Pride, posting a 0.56 goals against average and an .875 save percentage with 14 saves in 320 minutes of action. In addition, she showed her versatility by playing in the field during the Pride's match against Albertus Magnus Sept. 18.

Regis College (7-4-1, 6-3-1 GNAC), tied for fourth place in the GNAC standings with 19 points, hosts University of Saint Joseph, one of the teams with whom it is currently tied, Wednesday, Oct. 20, starting at 7 p.m. at Regis Stadium.
