Miya Nishibun Named GNAC Player of Week for Second Time

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior Miya Nishibun (Honolulu, Hawaii) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the second consecutive time, announced Monday by the league office.

For the second straight week, Nishibun totaled five goals in two matches to lead the Pride to their third and fourth consecutive conference victories. In the process, she broke the Regis single-season goals record as she now has 13 goals for the year, most in the league and tied for sixth in all of Division III.

Nishibun scored twice in the first half against Anna Maria last Wednesday as the Pride defeated the AMCATS, 3-0. Saturday against Norwich, she scored the first goal of the match in the 14th minute, then picked up two goals in the span of 3:22 in the second half to complete her third hat trick of the season during the team's 4-0 victory over the Cadets.

Already holding the single-season goals record, Nishibun is now just one point away from the single-season points record, currently held by Adena Joseph with 28 in 2011. Nishibun is tied for ninth in Division III in both total points with 27 and game-winning goals with four.

Regis College (6-2, 5-1 GNAC) faces Saint Joseph's College (6-6, 5-2 GNAC) in a key conference battle Wednesday, Oct. 6, starting at 7:30 p.m.
