Record-Setting Day for Nishibun Leads to Pride Victory

WESTON, Mass.Miya Nishibun (Honolulu, Hawaii) posted her third hat trick of the season and broke the program's single-season goals record to lead Regis College to a 4-0 victory over Norwich University Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's collegiate soccer match at Regis Stadium.

Regis took an early lead in the 13th minute of play when junior Maria Toumbouras (Walpole, Mass.) snuck past the Norwich defense and set up Nishibun for her first goal of the match. 

Later in the half, Regis junior Aria Ulmer (Henniker, N.H.) took a shot that deflected off a defender's leg and landed in the net, giving the Pride a 2-0 advantage.

Regis added on to their lead in the second half as Nishibun tacked on two more unassisted goals to achieve the hat trick and break the Regis single-season record of 12 goals set by Michaela Ellis in 2001 and matched by Adena Joseph in 2011. Nishibun is just one point away from Joseph's single-season points record of 28. 

Regis senior Ori Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) recorded one save in the first half before Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H.) and Cristina Nazario (Isla Verde, Puerto Rico) took over goalkeeping duties in the second half. The Pride outshot the Cadets, 26-3, with Norwich goalie Kim Watt finishing with eight saves during the contest. 

Regis (6-2, 5-1 GNAC) next hosts Saint Joseph's College of Maine in a conference matchup Wednesday night, Oct. 6, starting at 7:30 p.m. Norwich (2-6, 1-6 GNAC) next plays Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 6, at 3:30 p.m. against Colby-Sawyer.
