NEWTON, Mass. – It took an extraordinary effort by goalie Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) to keep Regis College in the match, but the Pride eventually fell to the Lasell Lasers, 2-1, Saturday afternoon in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's soccer match at Taylor Field.

Attridge finished with a career-high 16 saves, the most by a Regis goalie since Michaela Yebba made 21 saves at Nichols Oct. 13, 2010, exactly eight years ago. Attridge's work started right away as she made nine saves in the first 25 minutes of the match.

Lasell (8-4, 8-0 GNAC) finally connected with 8:43 remaining in the first half, as Narissa Libby smashed a shot from 40 feet away into the top left corner of the net.

Regis was able to respond as the half ended when Julia Walsh (Waltham, Mass.) scored her first career goal with 14 seconds remaining in the first half to create a 1-1 tie at halftime. Walsh also produced the Pride's best scoring chance of the second half, breaking past a Lasell defender in the 57^th minute, but her shot was stopped by Laser goalie Angela Sanzari.

In the 73^rd minute, Attridge turned away back-to-back shots by Erika Badger and Paige Meissner to keep the match tied. However, Caitlin Rotonnelli would notch the eventual game-winning tally in the 76^th minute, hitting the top right corner with a shot from the top of the box.

Sanzari finished with two saves as she picked up her sixth victory of the season. Lasell outshot Regis, 26-3, led by Kaylee Contreras with six shots and Carly Zdanek with five total shots.

Regis (8-6, 6-5 GNAC) concludes the conference schedule Wednesday, Oct. 17, against Rivier in Nashua, N.H., starting at 7 p.m. The Pride close out the regular season with Senior Night against Framingham State Tuesday, Oct. 23, also at 7 p.m.
