Pride Win Key GNAC Matchup

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team came out of Tuesday night's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup with the Cadets of Norwich University with a 6-2 win at Regis Stadium. 

The Pride would score 1:19 into the match with a goal coming from Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.), who took a pass from Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) into the box and finished off the play.  In the 13th minute of play, Francis would score again from the box after shaking the goalie to find the upper left corner of the net. Alexandra Maher (Reading, Mass.) would score her first goal of the season in the 16th minute. 

Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) would also find the back of the net in the 23rd minute of play, extending the Regis lead to 4-0. Norwich would strike back a few minutes later with a goal from Karyssa Lachance who would get the Cadets within three.

Kelly would bring the Pride lead back to four with a goal 25 seconds later. Zorya Webster would score her third goal of the season in the 38th minute of action as the first half would end with Regis leading the Cadets, 5-2.

Maher would find the back of the net for the second time of the night in the 68th minute. Oriana Attridge (Westwood, Mass.) started the match in net for the Pride and finished with two saves before being replaced at halftime by Angie Caldwell (Goffstown, N.H), who would also register a save. Norwich keeper Kim Watt played the entire match and was credited with 10 saves as the Pride outshot the Cadets, 25-12.

The Pride, who are 8-5 overall and 6-4 in the GNAC, will be on the road for their final two conference matches of the year, starting at Lasell Saturday, Oct. 13. They will end their conference slate Wednesday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Rivier. The final regular season home match for women's soccer will be Tuesday, Oct. 23 against the Rams of Framingham State, when Regis will celebrate Senior Night.
