Offensive Fireworks Spark GNAC Victory

PAXTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team was able to secure another Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory when the Pride took home an 8-0 victory over the Wildcats of Anna Maria at AMCAT Field.

The Pride were able to find the back of the net with seven different goal scorers. The Pride were able to start the game off when an error by Anna Maria resulted in an own goal in the second minute. In the fourth minute Emma Mendes (Pawtucket, R.I.) scored a goal off a feed from Brianna Gaynor (Peabody, Mass.).

Maddie Michaud (New Orleans, La.) would be able to extend the lead in the 29th minute. Payton Fitzgerald (Danielson, Conn.) would also score for the Pride in the 35th minute of the match.

After a goal by Bailey Elliot (Tolland, Conn.) in the 41st minute, Regis would be awarded a penalty kick just over three minutes later after a foul inside the box, which Katharine Ives (Arlington, Mass.) then converted to put the Pride up 6-0 before the halftime break. In the second half, Faith Montgomery (Abington, Mass.) and Kaylee Francis (Millis, Mass.) would also be able to put their names in the scoring column, each tallying one goal apiece.

The Pride, who are now 7-5 overall with a 5-4 record in the GNAC, will play host to Norwich on Wednesday, Oct. 10, before finishing out their GNAC slate on the road against Lasell Saturday, Oct. 13, followed by a trip to Rivier on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
