Women's Soccer Blanks Daniel Webster

WESTON, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team had no problem taking care of the Daniel Webster College Eagles on Friday night, claiming the victory by a final score of 4-0.

With the win, Regis improves to 7-4-1 (3-1 NECC) on the season, while the Eagles fall to 0-9 (0-3 NECC).

Tais Salles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the ninth minute to open the scoring for the Pride. Her shot from the top of the box froze Daniel Webster goalkeeper Stephanie Evans (Washington, Iowa), as the ball sailed past her into the right side of the net.

Regis graduate student Joana Rosa (Boston, Mass.) scored two straight goals in the closing stages of the first half to put the lead up by three heading to the half. Freshman Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) and junior Michaela Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) added assists on the two Rosa tallies.

Pride freshman midfielder Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) scored a late goal in the 86th minute to stretch the Pride lead to four. From the top right-hand side of the box, the rookie curled a left-footed shot into the top corner of the net to extend the Pride lead. Sophomore Sheehan Barton (Bourne, Mass.) earned the assist on Filetti's fourth goal of the season.

Despite the loss, Evans turned in a strong performance for the Eagles, making 15 saves. Freshman goalkeeper Noelle Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned the shutout for Regis to improve to 3-1-1 on the season

Next up for the Pride, they will travel to Lesley University for a conference matchup with the Lynx next Wednesday night. For Daniel Webster, they'll next host Maine-Presque Isle in a non-conference holiday matinee on Monday.
