Women's Soccer Scores Early And Often In 5-1 Win At Bay Path

LONGMEADOW, Mass. - Rachel Kelly (Whitman, Mass.) had a goal and an assist as part of a balanced attack to help the Regis (Mass.) women's soccer team to a dominant 5-1 New England Collegiate Conference win at Bay Path Sunday at Ryan Field. The win was the biggest since a 5-1 win over Bay Path last season.

With the win, the Pride (6-3, 2-1 NECC) eclipse last season's win total and are just one victory shy of equaling last year's league total. The start is also the best to a season through nine games since 2012 when Regis started 6-1-2.

The Pride, now winners of four of its last five games, set the tone early when Erin Filetti (Newburyport, Mass.) scored in the sixth minute off a pass from Kelly, then Noelle Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) added another and Regis was up 2-0 less than eight minutes into the game. Tais Salles (Fort Lauderdale, Fla. ) just about put the game out of reach with her goal in the 20th minute to put her team up by three goals.

Joanna Feliciano (Springfield, Mass.) scored for Bay Path (4-3, 1-2 NECC) to make it a 3-1 game at halftime. In the 77th minute however, Kelly added a goal to her assist then less than four minutes later Michaela Bouvette (Mattapoisett, Mass.) capped the scoring with a goal off a corner kick.

Amanda Matias (Ludlow, Mass.) made four saves for Regis with Caitlyn Esposito (East Haven, Conn.) came up with 10 saves in 23 Pride shots for the Wildcats

The Pride return to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 27 hosting Rhode Island College at 4:00 p.m. Bay Path also next plays this Tuesday visiting Mt. Holyoke for a 6:00 p.m. match.
