PRIDE FALL TO ELMS IN NECC POSTSEASON

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team wrapped up the 2015 season with a 2-0 setback to No. 2 Elms College in the First Round of the New England Collegiate Conference postseason on Tuesday night.

Regis wraps up the season at 5-12-2 overall.

The Pride held Elms (15-3-1) off the board for the first 30 minutes of action, but the Blazers' Brie Voight (Springfield, Mass.) was taken down by a Regis defender in the box leading to an Elms penalty kick. On the ensuing attempt, senior Michelle Rossignol (Manchester, N.H.) laced a shot just beyond the diving reach of Regis senior goalkeeper Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.), staking Elms to a 1-0 lead.

With just over a minute to play in the first half, the Blazers netted an insurance goal as Madison Jung (Stafford Springs, Conn.) launched a cross to the front of the net, finding Voight who tucked a shot past Gagnon, sending the Blazers into the half with a 2-0 lead.

Elms played the possession game in the second half, controlling the ball for the final 45 minutes and giving up only one shot to the Pride.

Rachel Gagnon made seven stops on the night for the Pride. Tais Salles (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), Kristen Abreu (Woburn, Mass.), and Jenna Novio (Rockland, Mass.) took the shots for Regis in the setback.
