SIX WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS NAMED ALL-NECC

WESTON, Mass. – Six players from the Regis College women's soccer team were recently honored as All-Conference selections by the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), it was announced by the league's offices on Monday morning. Leading the way was junior forward Kristen Abreu (Woburn, Mass.), who was the lone member of the Pride to be named First Team All-Conference.

Juniors Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.), Jackie Rocheville (Salem, Mass.), and Jasmin Vivar (Attleboro, Mass.), as well as sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.) were each named to the Second Team, while sophomore Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) rounded out the selections as an Honorable Mention pick.

Selections were based on a vote amongst the league's coaches.

Abreu earns her third consecutive All-NECC recognition after being named to the Second Team in 2011 and First Team last fall. She led the Pride this season with 18 points off of seven goals and four assists after starting in 18-of-19 games played. Her points total ranked among the highest in the league. She netted two game-winners as well as had two multi-goal performances this season, both of which came in wins over Lyndon State and Newbury College on Sept. 7 and Oct. 23, respectively.

Just behind Abreu was Joseph, a fellow forward and 2011 Second Team All-NECC selection. She notched 16 points this season after starting and playing in 16 games. Joseph scored seven goals on the year, all of which came in different games, as well as added two helpers. She tallied the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Thomas on Oct. 1.

Rocheville, who started and played in 18 contests, anchored a Pride backline which shutout eight opponents and limited conference opponents to just five goals during the regular season. Rocheville also chipped in offensively for the Crimson & Gold, recording 13 points off of four goals and five assists. She scored the game-winner in a 2-0 victory over Southern Vermont on Oct. 26.

Vivar led the midfielder core for the Pride after starting and playing in 18 games this season. She tallied nine points off of three goals and three assists. She had a season-high three points in a 5-0 win over Wheelock on Oct. 15 after scoring a goal and dishing out one assist in the win.

Gagnon, a 2012 All-NECC First Team selection, never skipped a beat for the Pride after starting and playing in 18 games and logging 1659:54 minutes in goal this season. She had nine shutouts throughout her sophomore campaign, finished with a 0.76 goals against average, and maintained a .869 save percentage.

Salamone appeared in all 19 games for the Pride this season, while starting 18 of them. She proved to be a very versatile player, appearing as a midfielder, defender, and even in goal. She finished third on the team with five goals and also added two assists for 12 points on the year. Salamone led the Pride with three game-winners.

Regis wrapped up one of the program's most successful seasons with a 10-7-2 overall record, which included an appearance in the NECC Semifinals for the second consecutive year.
