PRIDE TAME WILDCATS WITH 5-0 SHUTOUT ON SENIOR DAY

WESTON, Mass. – Regis College cruised to a 5-0 victory over visiting Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon at Regis Stadium. With the win, the Pride move to 6-6-2 overall and 3-2-1 in league play.

Prior to the game, the senior trio of Tess McLean (West Roxbury, Mass.), Andrea Barbosa (Taunton, Mass.), and Nora Bosteels (Canton, Mass.) were recognized for their contributions to the program. McLean and Barbosa have been on the team since they were freshmen, while Bosteels has been a member of the Pride for the past two seasons.

Following the brief ceremony, the Pride took to the field for the start of the game. Less than ten minutes in, sophomore Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) got things started for the Crimson & Gold. Salamone chested the ball down, cut to her outside, and drilled a shot into the low left corner for the 1-0 lead.

Minutes later, Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.) would put Regis up 2-0 off an assist from Jasmin Vivar (Attleboro, Mass.). Vivar crossed the ball into the box, which deflected off of a Wheelock defender. The ball trickled over to an open Joseph, who took an uncontested shot into the back of the net.

In the second half, Regis was able to tack on three more insurance goals. Bosteels scored her first collegiate goal at the 63:22 mark to make it 3-0. She beat two Wildcat defenders and launched a high shot from inside the box that was tucked under the crossbar.

Vivar scored a goal of her own in the 72nd minute off a feed from Kristen Abreu (Woburn, Mass.). Abreu dished the ball back to Vivar, who was sitting at the top of the box. She struck a shot that went into the left side of the net for the 4-0 lead.

Jackie Rocheville (Salem, Mass.) scored the fifth and final goal of the game in the 82nd minute. She blew past a few Wheelock players and beat Erin Rice (Windsor, Vt.) high after going one-on-one with her.

Wheelock (0-10, 0-4 NECC) was led by Rice and Meghan Lewis (South Berwick, Maine), who split time in goal and recorded four saves apiece. Freshman forward Alison DeGloria (Chelmsford, Mass.) registered the two lone shots of the game for the Wildcats.

Wheelock will next travel to Pine Manor for a 4 p.m. non-conference game on Thursday, while Regis will travel to NECC foe Becker for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday afternoon.
