ABREU NAMED NECC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WESTON, Mass. – Junior forward Kristen Abreu (Woburn, Mass.) of the Regis College women's soccer team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week, it was announced by the league's offices on Monday morning. Abreu helped the Pride pick up a pair of wins to start the season at 2-0.

Abreu had a game-high three shots, including one shot on goal, in a 3-0 shutout of New England College in the season opener on Wednesday afternoon. On Saturday, Abreu provided the heroics in a 2-1 victory over Lyndon State, which avenged a 1-0 loss to the Hornets last season. The junior broke a scoreless deadlock in the 47th minute and tallied another goal just minutes later, which proved to be the eventual game-winner.

Abreu and the Pride will look to continue their winning streak tomorrow evening as they host Mass. Maritime in a non-conference game on the turf at 6:00 p.m.
