WESTON, Mass. – The Regis College women's soccer team has grabbed the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NECC Tournament, it was announced by the league offices. The Pride (9-2-3) will host No. 7 Newbury College on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Regis College.

Regis won its final two games of the regular season to grab the second seed. Lesley University secured the top seed in the tournament after an unblemished 9-0 mark in NECC play this year and have earned the first round bye.

The Pride defeated Newbury College, 4-1, in the Pride and Nighthawks' only previous meeting this year. The sophomore trio of Jasmin Vivar (Attleboro, Mass.), Adena Joseph (Stoughton, Mass.) and Kristen Abreu (Woburn, Mass.) combined for the four goals with Abreu scoring two of them.

Elms earned the third seed, finishing the season 7-9-2 overall, 6-1-2 NECC. The Blazers will host sixth seed Mitchell (4-9, 4-5 NECC) in a first round match-up Wednesday at 8:00 pm.

Fifth seed Southern Vermont (11-4-2, 5-3-1 NECC) will travel to fourth seed Becker College (8-6-3, 6-2-1 NECC) for a 6:00 pm. The winner will play top seed Lesley in a semifinal contest on Friday.

The top seven teams qualify for the NECC Championship. Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to seed teams with identical conference winning percentages.

Due to weather concerns, the tournament schedule has been adjusted. First round games will be played on Wednesday, October 31 at the higher seed. Winners will advance to the semifinals on Friday, November 2. Semifinal winners will meet Sunday, November 4 at the highest remaining seed.
