HORNETS STING PRIDE WITH 1-0 LOSS

LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — The Regis College women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought battle to host Lyndon State College on a rainy Saturday afternoon by a score of 1-0.  The game marks the first loss on the year for the Pride, who fall to 2-1, while the Hornets break even at 2-2 on the young season.

After a scoreless first half, which featured a 35-minute down pour, Lyndon State's Sarah Cornell (Lyndonville, Vt.) scored the lone goal of the game off a cross from Emily Strese (Gilmanton, N.H.) at the 62:08 mark.

Despite outshooting the hosts by an 11-8 margin, the Pride were unable to get past goalkeeper Dannika Dobrowski, who made four stops in her first career start for the Hornets. Michelle Sirois (Easton, Mass.) paced the offense for Regis and registered five shots in the contest.

Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Gagnon (Ashford, Conn.) also had a big game for her team, finishing the day strong with five saves.

Regis is back in action on Wednesday as the team visits Massachusetts Maritime for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Buccaneers.
