SIROIS'S GOAL NOT ENOUGH FOR PRIDE

DUDLEY, Mass. (Oct. 13) – The Nichols College women's soccer team defeated Regis, 5-1, Wednesday afternoon in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference game. The Bison improve to 9-4-1 overall and even out in conference play at 4-4-1. The Pride falls to 3-11-1 overall and to 0-8-1 in TCCC action.

Nichols saw seven players register at least one point amidst a dominant 53-11 shot advantage. The Bison allowed two corner kicks in the game, and scored their final tally on one of seven corner attempts in the contest.

Nichols first year Starleena Cash (Springfield, Mass.) booted in a rebound from Kaitlyn Dibuono (Auburn, Mass.) before seven minutes had elapsed in the game. Cash capped the scoring with 11 seconds left in the game after collecting a loose ball off a corner; the tally marked her 11th of the season.

Sophomore Jessica Brasil (Methuen, Mass.) passed ahead to first year Chantal Lemoine (Belchertown, Mass.) for a shot to the lower left corner that edged the home team ahead, 2-0, in the 31st minute.

Regis cut the Bison's lead in half as Michelle Sirois (Easton, Mass.) sent in a shot that rolled past the Nichols keeper. Samantha Correia (Berlin, Mass.) was credited with the assist.

Holly Ventura (Hudson, Mass.) gave the Bison back a two goal lead in the 62nd minute when she came in from the right side and tucked the ball in the right corner. Brittany Tremont's (Guilford, Conn.) long throw-in from 25 yards out found Samantha Abro (Northborough, Mass.) for the sophomore's 11th goal of the season and a 4-1 lead in the 81st minute.

Nichols keeper Maureen Lynch (Holbrook, Mass.) made four stops in the win. Her counterpart, Michaela Yebba (Wakefield, Mass.) stopped 21 shots in her fourth start of the season.

The Bison host Colby-Sawyer Saturday in a 2 p.m. TCCC game. Regis hosts Curry Saturday in a 1 p.m. conference game.
