SIROIS SCORES TO SET PRIDE ON PACE FOR WIN

Weston, Mass.---The  Regis College women's soccer team defeated Wheelock College Thursday (Sept.23) by the score of 2-0.  The Pride improves to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Wildcats drop to 0-6 in the New England Collegiate Conference.

The Pride was led by sophomore Michelle Sirois (Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) who scored the first goal of the night when she converted on a pass from Samantha Correia (Berlin, Mass./Hudson) midway through the first period. The Pride's defense stayed strong and held the Wildcats scoreless heading into halftime.

In the second period the Pride continued to move the ball in the Wildcats defensive zone. Correia was able to once again break through the Wildcat defense and get off an uncontested shot. This shot was placed far enough in the back corner to slip past the Wildcats goalkeeper Alexandra Chiesa (Medford, Mass./Medford)  who had 15 saves in the game. On defense the Pride finished out the second period flawless holding the Wildcat offense to zero. The Prides played both goalkeepers Bethany Frye (Adams, Mass./Hoosac Valley) and Michaela Yebba (Wakefield, Mass. /Lynnfield) who each played well in goal.

The Pride is set to travel to play Salve Regina University this Saturday (Sept. 25) at 2:30 pm
