HENNIKER,
N.H.—New England College’s Amy Ordile (Winchendon,
Mass.) netted a career-best three goals lifting the Pilgrims past
the visiting Regis College Pride 8-1 Tuesday afternoon. The
win is the first conference win of the season for the Pilgrims who
improve to 1-2-1 in the TCCC and 2-5-1 overall. The loss
drops the Pride to 0-3-0 in the conference and 1-5-0 overall.
The Pilgrims would open the scoring early as Veronica Hytner (St.
James, N.Y.) would score on a breakaway just eight minutes into the
game. NEC’s Alyssa Wilkie (Saugus, Mass.) would extend the
lead to 2-0 just minutes later as she would put in a pass from
Jillian Zanine (Bethel, Conn.).
NEC would tack on three more first half goals, including two from
Amy Ordile to head into halftime up 5-0.
The Pride would get on the board in the 52nd minute as Gina
Djevalikian would convert on a Regis penalty kick. NEC would
respond as Wilkie would connect with her second goal of the game
just two minutes later.
NEC would add two more scores late including one by first-year
forward Kristen Walker (Franklin, Mass.) as the Pilgrims would
eventually cruise to the 8-1 victory. NEC’s Wilkie
finished with two goals and an assist and Walker scored a goal and
dished out an assist for the Pilgrims.
In goal for Regis was Samantha Correia (Berlin, Mass.) who
finished with 14 saves. NEC’s Nicole Peskovitz (Dover,
N.H.) picked up the win in goal finishing with a save.
New England College returns to action on Thursday, September 23
when they host Southern Vermont College. Regis College will
travel to take on Wheelock College Thursday.
