PRIDE TO TAKE ON MOUNTAINEERS

Weston, Mass.---The Regis College women's soccer team is set to take on Southern Vermont College Saturday (Sept. 4).  This is the first home contest for the Pride, who enter the contest 0-1 after a season opening loss to Lyndon state College earlier this week. Freshman midfielder Tess McLean (West Roxbury, Mass./Mount Alvernia) hopes to continue her scoring streak after netting the Prides first goal of the season. Captains Kelly Cadigan (Ware, Mass./Granby), Kara Sharples (Pawtucket, RI/St. Raphael Academy), and Samantha LaFrance (Savoy, Mass./Hoosac Valley), possess critical in-game experience that will help lead the Pride in 2010.

For the Mountaineers, they start the season off at 0-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference after an early season loss to Morrisville State. Junior captain Joellen Demers (Middlesex, Vt./U-32)  leads the charge for the Mountaineers bringing a wealth of  game experience and leadership to the squad. Sophomore Shawnee Webster (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick Falls Central School) returns as the Mountaineers leading scorer in 2009, with four goals on the season.

The game is set to start at 2:00 pm on the Regis College Athletic Fields.
