TESS MCLEAN SCORES REGIS' FIRST GOAL OF SEASON

WESTON, Mass.—Freshman Tess McLean (West Roxbury, Mass./Mount Alvernia) scored Regis’ only goal Wednesday night, as the Regis College women’s soccer team lost in non-conference play 10-1 to Lyndon State.

It was the teams first match of the 2010 season, and under first-year head coach Liz Conant. McLean’s score came unassisted at 20:35. She managed three shots on goal Wednesday night, a team high. Freshman Andrea Barbosa (Taunton, Mass./Taunton) took two shots.

As a team Regis had just nine total shots, with eight being on goal. In comparison, Lyndon State had 31 shots with at least half being on goal. Six different Lyndon State players tallied scores against Regis keeper Michaela Yebba (Wakefield, Mass.).

Lyndon’s Samantha Bergeron had a team-high three goals, and added two assists.

The Pride will hope to rebound against Southern Vermont (Sept. 4) Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start at Regis College.
