WOMEN'S SOCCER ANNOUNCES 2009 CLASS

Weston, Mass.-As excited as Regis College is for its new athletic fields to be completed, women's soccer head coach Mark Clemente is equally optimistic of the production of his incoming women's soccer class.

Graduating just three from the 2008 team, and with a committed returning core coming in for preseason in two weeks, the incoming four should give the Pride a boost on both sides of the ball.

Samantha Correia, Midfielder, (Berlin, Mass./Hudson High School)

Correia "has the vision of a playmaker," says Clemente. Correia was a four-year varsity starter for Hudson as well as a Central Massachusetts All-Star, and two-time league all-star.

Her style of play, and ability to find the back of the net earned her the recognition as a Bay State Game Gold Medalist.

Coach Clemente on Samantha Correia:

"Sam has tremendous composure and technique on the ball. She has the ability to play possession confidently."

Bethany Frye, Goalkeeper, (Adams, Mass./Hoosac Valley High School)

She's an "agile and athletic goalkeeper," said Clemente. Frye will be a much-needed addition to the program.

Frye was a three-year varsity starter for Hoosac, and competed for the AJAX Soccer Club of Western Massachusetts most recently.

She should battle for a starting position in the net come preseason.

Coach Clemente on Bethany Frye:

"Beth brings a wealth of experience as a freshman goalkeeper. She is the most agile and athletic goalkeeper the program has had in years."

Ashley Hibbard, Forward, (Marlborough, Mass./Littleton High School)

Most recently a member of the FC Puma Soccer Club, and has been for the last five years, Hibbard is a three-year league champion, and two-year Colonial Athletic League All-Star.

Hibbard, a "sparkplug," says Clemente, was a four-year starter, and should add a punch to an experienced team. The Pride will have six rising seniors entering the 2009 preseason.

Coach Clemente on Ashley Hibbard:

"Ashley is a left-sided sparkplug, and brings a ton of energy both on and off the ball. Ashley is capable of playing as a front-runner or flank midfielder."

Shanice Reddick, Defender, (Somerville, Mass./Somerville High School)

The "spirited teammate" will compete for playing time from the start of preseason. Reddick was a two-year varsity player for Somerville.

Coach Clemente on Shanice Reddick:

"Shanice will add depth to a very young back line, and compete in a platoon situation for a wing-back position."
