CHARGERS TOO MUCH, REGIS FALLS 2-0

Weston, Mass.-Abby Willis (Uxbridge, Mass.) opened with Colby-Sawyer's first goal in the 29th minute, leading the Chargers to a 2-0 defeat of The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Regis College (1-9-1, 0-7 TCCC) Wednesday.

Willis took a team high five shots for the Chargers. As a team Colby-Sawyer (6-3-3. 3-2-2 TCCC) managed 26 shots. She was one of 12 Chargers to attempt shots on the Regis net.

Breaking through the Regis defense Willis was only contended by Marie Kong (Boston, Mass.) before going against keeper Ashley Hibbard (Marlborough, Mass.). With Hibbard diving to save the goal, Willis would cross the ball over from left to right then scoring in the middle of the net.

Laura Bauer (Bradford, N.H.) would replace Willis following the goal, and quickly begin attacking the Regis defense, taking her first shot against Hibbard at 31:48. Hibbard would save the attempt.

Hibbard managed 12 saves in her 90 minutes. The Charger offense remained relentless until the end of the first period.

Returning from the intermission, Meghan Fligg (Osterville, Mass.) quickly got back to work, opening the second period with the teams second goal at 46:18.

Liz Williams (Norwell, Mass.) took the first shot attempt, which was blocked to the ground by Hibbard. Following the rebound Fligg managed to gather the ball to her control, and score the Colby-Sawyer's final goal of the night.

Regis College opened the second half more aggressive than the first period, but only managed four shots. Meghan Roan (Whitman, Mass.) led with three on goal, giving Allie Piper (Barre, V.T.) her three saves for the game.

Each team will continue conference play October 10 with Regis College heading to Gordon College, while Colby-Sawyer faces Eastern Nazarene.
