LIONS BRING REGIS SEASON TO END

Quincy, MA. October 28, 2009.  The Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team struck for four goals in the second half to beat The Commonwealth Conference opponents, Regis College, in the wind swept rain at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, Mass.

Leading 1-0 at the half, the Lions Brenna Mereness (Castleton, NY) scored a pair of goals within a one minute span to give the home team control of the game.  The Lions then withstood a surge of Pride momentum for the next twenty minutes before Kara Webber (Marshfield, Mass.) and Mereness teamed up for two more goals in the 86th and 89th minute to cap off the games final score, 5-0, for the final game of the season. 

ENC Senior Brenna Mereness fittingly finished her career with a hat-trick, as she tallied 8 goals and 9 assists for the season while playing injured.

Kara Webber opened the scoring for the Lions in the first half as she finished in the 20th minute to give the home team the 1-0 lead.

The Lions held the advantage in shots, 21-6, and corners, 2-1.

Regis goalkeeper Ashley Hibbard (Marlboro, MA) made 5 saves on the night as Eastern Nazarene keeper Brittany Hislop (Burley, WA) made 3 saves while she and the defense kept a clean sheet. 

Eastern Nazarene finishes the year with a 6-13 record, 4-9 in the TCCC as Regis finishes at 2-15-1, 0-13 in the TCCC.
