BISON ROAM TO 8-0 DEFEAT OF REGIS COLLEGE

Weston, Mass.-Holly Ventura (Hudson, Mass.) opened with the games first score for Nichols College (4-6, 1-4 TCCC), helping the Bison to an 8-0 defeat of The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Regis College (1-7-1, 0-4 TCCC) Thursday.

Within five minutes of the opening whistle, and being assisted by Kaitlyn Dibuono (Auburn, Mass.) Ventura would put in her first shot of the night into the Regis College net. Ventura pulled a hat trick for the Bison, scoring in the 5th, 19th, and 32nd minutes respectively.

She finished her night with three goals in four shots taken. Nichols' Dibuono was credited for two assists officially, but was instrumental in placing two other players in position to score.

Dibuono would also add her name to the list of three other Bison to score, tallying her first goal of the night at 8:47.

Freshman teammate Samantha Abro (Northborough, Mass.) tallied three other goals for Nichols. Abro put her first score into net at 19:42 from a deflected shot taken by Dibuono credit Dibuono with the assist.

Abro, playing the middle forward, easily made her past the Regis defense. She put together 12 total shots against Regis keeper Bethany Frye (Adams, Mass.).

Abro would score twice in the first period with her second score coming in the 34th minute.

Entering the half Nichols had taken 19 shots to Regis' two. The two shots on net would come from Regis' Janelle Welsh (Worcester, Mass.).

Nichols opened with another quick score in the second half as it did in the first period. Chelsea Shaughnessy (Halifax, Mass.) made herself the fourth Bison to score with an unassisted shot that sailed over the fingertips of Frye.

Frye faced a total of 30 shots, in comparison Nichols' keepers Andrea D'Antuono (West Greenwich, R.I.) and Mauren Lynch (Holbrook, Mass.) had two and one saves respectively.

Regis College continues conference play when it heads to Curry College Saturday, Oct. 3. Nichols will face Endicott College, also a TCCC opponent.
