SCOTS FIND 8-0 WIN IN TCCC MATCH-UP

WENHAM, MA. -- Gordon's women's soccer team celebrated Homecoming weekend in style, shutting out Regis 8-0 before a large and appreciative crowd estimated at close to 400 people. The Scots move to 6-7 on the season with the win and now have a 5-3 TCCC record.  Regis falls to 1-10-1, and 0-8 in the conference.  It was the most lopsided win by Gordon women's soccer since September 13, 2007, when Gordon defeated Eastern Nazarene 9-0.

Gordon scored twice in the 4th minute of the match.  Freshman Ally Lanoue made the most of her first collegiate start, converting a corner kick from Hala Coker, just 3:19 into the match.  Only seconds later, Lanoue assisted Christen Peters to put the Scots up 2-0.

Two great individual efforts helped Gordon double the lead in the early going of the first half.  Caitlin Nedde weaved her way across the Regis defense before roofing a left-footed kick in the 12th minute.  4 minutes later, Lanoue broke down the left wing and got behind the Pride defense.  Her breakaway goal put Gordon up 4-0.

The second half featured more of the same.  Brittany Backlund and Taralyn Clark paired up as eac picked up a goal and an assist.  Rachael Bradley scored the final 2 goals of the match with assists coming from Rachel Ashley and Katie Whallon.

Gordon goalkeepers Abby Ytzen and Abbey McManus split time in net and combined for the shutout.  The Scots outshot Regis 35-2.

Ashley Hibbard had a busy day in net for the Pride making 14 saves, several of them spectacular.

Gordon will be back to action on Tuesday, October 13, when they travel to Rhode Island to face Roger Williams in a critical conference matchup.  Regis has a non-conference contest at Southern Vermont on Monday, October 12.
