PRIDE STUMBLE IN 4-0 LOSS TO SALVE REGINA

Weston, Mass.-In a battle of The Commonwealth Coast Conference, Salve Regina (5-2, 2-0 TCCC) and Regis College (0-4, 0-2 TCCC) ended in a 4-0 victory for Salve Regina.

Salve's freshman Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) led the Seahawks with three goals. Birrell scored her first in the 46th minute, then back-to-back goals at 52:58 and 53:48 respectively.

Jennifer Duval (Dudley, Mass.) led Salve in assists with two. Liz Galla (Beacon Falls, Conn.) led the way with 10 shots, four on goal, and she opened the game with the Seahawks first score of the game against Regis keeper Ashley Hibbard (Marlborough, Mass.).

Hibbard had eight saves for the Pride. As a team Salved posted 39 shots, 18 of which were on goal. Nine different Seahawks would attack the Pride. Duval would contribute four shots, with three on goal.

As a defense Regis kept Salve from scoring until the last five minutes. Janelle Welsh (Worcester, Mass.) and Kara Sharples (Pawtucket, R.I.) were defensively sound for the Pride. Both would manage a shot against keeper Katie Vaudrain (Pawtucket, R.I.), who managed a first half shutout.

Senior Meghan Roan (Whitman, Mass.) led the Pride with three shots; no Regis player would enter the box to take a shot on goal.

Regis will head to the University of New England to continue its TCCC scheduled play.
