Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Mount Ida On Senior Day

WESTON, Mass. – The Regis (Mass.) women's lacrosse team saw its seven-game win streak snapped, losing to Mount Ida 8-4 on Senior Day in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action Tuesday night at Regis Stadium.

The game was the regular season finale for both teams who now set their sights on the GNAC Tournament set for this Saturday, Apr. 28. Regis (12-4, 7-3 GNAC) will await its final seeding and first round matchup after the GNAC closes its conference season on Wednesday.

Scoring was at a premium for the Pride who would score the game's first two goals and lead 2-0 just over the halfway mark of the first period. Brooke Ross (Hanover, Mass.) and Linsay Bumila (Raynham, Mass.) both scored to put the Pride up.

Mount Ida (11-4, 7-3 GNAC) would net six unanswered goals before the half ended including three from Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass.). Kelly would make up half of her team's scoring, netting a game-high four goals while tallying one assist and scooping up six groundballs.

The Mustangs pushed the lead to 7-2 early in the second half but the Pride would work itself back into the game. Ross scored her second with 18:42 to play then Erin Loehner (Danvers, Masss.), on an assist from Kerri Anselmo (Natick, Mass.), scored 39 seconds later to shave the lead to 7-4. Regis however would be held goalless for the remainder of the game as Mount Ida added another goal to complete the scoring.

Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) tallied 11 saves in net for the Pride with Mustang goalie Eleanor Garvey (Eldridge, Md.) posting 16 saves.

Prior to the game, seniors Maresa Malcolm, Erin Loehner, Linsay Bumila and Tais Salles were honored for their contributions to Regis lacrosse.
