CLINTON, N.Y. – A record-setting season came to a close for the Regis (Mass.) women's lacrosse team who fell 19-2 to No. 9 Salisbury University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Saturday at Steuben Field.

Andra Keane (Medford, Mass.) and Mackenzie Cattaruzza (Guilford, Conn.) scored both goals for the Pride with Courtney Fegan (Edgewater, Md.) leading Salisbury with four goals.

The Pride closes its season at 15-5 after a third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and a program record 15 wins. Salisbury moves on to play host Hamilton College in the NCAA second round on Sunday.

The Sea Gulls proved to be too much for the undermanned Pride, scoring early and often to all but secure the win in the first half. Salisbury went up 7-0 less than eight minutes into the game with Lindsay Wagner (Baltimore, Md.) distributing three assists and scoring one of her own.

After only minimal possession through much of the first half, the Pride finally got into the attacking end when Arianna Woodley (Norwood, Mass.) raced down the sideline and Regis was able to possess in front of Salisbury's net. Nicole Roche (Waltham, Mass.) ended up with a free position attempt which was saved by Sea Gull goalkeeper Gianna Falcone (Florham Park, N.J.).

Salisbury maintained its dominance in the second half but a stronger defensive effort was evident early on from the Pride. It would take nearly eight minutes for the Gulls to score their first second-half goal to push the lead to 13-0.

Despite the more competitive second half, one where the Pride scored twice, the result was never in doubt as Salisbury cruised to the win.

Maresa Malcolm (Barrington, N.J.) posted three saves for the Pride in the losing effort.
