SALAMONE AND POLITIS SWEEP FINAL NECC WEEKLY AWARDS

WESTON, Mass. – For the sixth time this season, the Regis College duo of sophomore Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) and freshman Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) have swept New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly honors for women's lacrosse, it was announced by the league's offices on Monday morning. Politis and Salamone led the way for the Pride, who captured the inaugural NECC Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Politis picks up her seventh Player of the Week honor of the season after notching seven goals and two assists in two games this past week. The sophomore attack had four goals, an assist, and 11 draw controls in a 20-8 win over Elms College in the NECC Semifinals. In the championship game on Saturday, Politis scored three goals and added an assist to help Regis claim a 9-8 overtime win over Becker College for the NECC Title, and she was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

Salamone grabs her ninth Rookie of the Week distinction of the year after tallying twelve goals and two assists in the NECC playoffs. She registered seven goals, two assists, three groundballs, and six draw controls in the Pride's NECC Semifinals win over Elms on Wednesday. The freshman midfielder saved her best performance for last, scoring the game-winner and four other goals in Saturday's NECC Championship. Salamone was honored as Tournament MVP and named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.

Regis College wraps up the season with a 13-6 overall mark, which sets a new program record for total wins in a season.
