REGIS WRAPS UP REGULAR SEASON WITH 16-7 WIN

LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College fell to Regis College 16-7 in New England Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win lifts the pride to 11-7 (5-0 NECC), earning them the top seed in the upcoming NECC Tournament. The loss drops the Haws to 6-9 (4-1 NECC).

Regis jumped on the board 4:41 into the game when Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) scored on feed from Krysten Sheppard (Medford, Mass.). The Pride increased their lead 21 seconds later when Katie Haidemenos (Warwick, R.I.) scored top shelf on an assist from Politis.

Becker cut the Regis advantage in half when Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, N.Y.) broke free all alone, to score her 23th goal of the season.

The Hawks excitement was short lived as the Pride went on to score seven unanswered goals. Freshman Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) tallied three of the seven goals and Politis netted two more, making the score 9-1.

Becker finally stopped the Regis run when Ashley Mossey (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) scored on a free position shot. Regis went on to score four more goals before the half to give them a comfortable 13-2 lead.

Becker opened the second half with two quick goals from Ruyack and Mossey, but Sam Salamone responded with back to back goals to make the score 15-4. The Hawks got late goals from Mindy Moreau (Canterbury, Conn.) and Samantha-Jo Dilkes (Little Falls, N.J.), but the first half run by Regis proved to be too much as the Pride earned the 16-7 victory.

Sam Salamone led the way for the Pride, scoring a game high seven goals. Grace Politis clipped in with four goals and two assists. Regis goalie Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) made seven saves in a winning effort.

Ashley Mossey led the Hawks with three goals and Kailee Ruyack added a pair in the loss. Freshman goalie Shelby Wicks (Shaftsbury, Vt.) made ten saves.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday, May 1 when they host the opening round of the New England Collegiate Conference. The match-ups with be announced by the league office tomorrow evening.
