BALANCED ATTACK FUELS PRIDE WIN OVER SAGE, 15-3

WESTON, Mass. – Nine different players scored goals for the Regis College women's lacrosse team en route to a 15-3 win over The Sage Colleges on Wednesday afternoon. The Pride, who improve to 4-2 with the victory, were led by Lindsey Graver (Bellingham, Mass.) and Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.), who each tallied three goals and one assist. With the loss, the Gators fall to 0-4 on the season.

Regis got things started less than two minutes into the game. After receiving a pass on the goal line from Graver, Politis cut to her left and released a shot that beat goalkeeper Courtney Reed (Mechanicville, N.Y.) weak side just 1:17 into the game. The Pride never looked back, averaging a goal per minute over the next ten minutes to take a commanding 10-0 lead over the Gators.

During that stretch, the Pride saw three goals from Politis, two apiece from sophomores Sashae Walls (Everett, Mass.) and Katie Haidemenos (Warwick, R.I.), and one each from Stacy Burns (Waltham, Mass.), Samantha Salamone (Milford, Mass.) and Graver.

After Becka Sarson (York, Maine) tacked on some more insurance at the 9:11 mark, the Pride's Krysten Sheppard (Medford, Mass.) knifed through the Sage defense and shot the ball top shelf for her first career goal and the 12-0 lead. Graver would score two more goals, one unassisted and one from Sheppard, to put Regis ahead 14-0 going into halftime.

After the break, Sage was able to generate more offensive power and capitalize on their opportunities. Alexa Pajak (Earlton, N.Y.) took a bounce shot on a free position that found the back of the net to put Sage on the board 35 seconds into the half.

Andrea Barbosa (Taunton, Mass.) scored at the 20:34 minute mark in what would prove to be the last of the Pride's goals for the day. After a fifteen minute lull in scoring, the Gators closed out the game with two unanswered goals for the 15-3 final score. Mallory Hansen (Johnstown, N.Y.) scored at the 5:40 mark before Pajak tallied her second goal of the day with 3:55 remaining.

Lindsay Millett (Ravena, N.Y.) finished with a game-high six draw controls on the day, and Reed finished with eight saves to lead Sage. Salamone would finish with a game-high four ground balls to go along with her five draw controls, one goal, and one assist.

Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) and Sierra Luce (Hartford, Vt.) combined for ten saves in goal for the Pride, while Decker finished with a clean sheet.

The Gators will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they host Maritime at 4:00 p.m. Regis, who just wrapped up a four-game home stand, will travel to Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday, March 23 for a 1:00 p.m. nonconference matchup.
