PRIDE SWEEP NECC WEEKLY HONORS FOR WOMEN'S LACROSSE

WESTON, Mass. – A pair of Regis College women's lacrosse players swept the New England Collegiate Conference's (NECC) weekly awards after the Pride went 2-1 on the week. Sophomore Grace Politis (Billerica, Mass.) nets Player of the Week for the third consecutive time this season, while freshman Samantha Salamone (Milford, Mass.) garners Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season.

Politis notched 13 points on the week for the Pride. She scored two goals, had three draw controls, and two caused turnovers in a 15-12 overtime loss to Emmanuel on Wednesday. On Saturday afternoon, the sophomore attack registered four goals, five groundballs, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers in the Pride's 19-3 win over Green Mountain, in a game that saw Politis eclipse her 100th career point. Politis finished the week with four goals, three assists, seven groundballs, and six caused turnovers, as Regis defeated Maine Farmington, 12-11.

Salamone had a 20 point week for the Crimson & Gold. The rookie midfielder scored four goals, had three assists, and 11 draw controls against Emmanuel. Salamone added five goals, two assists, five groundballs, and three caused turnovers against the Eagles on Saturday. She finished the week with four goals, two assists, 10 groundballs, and five draw controls against the Beavers. Her fourth goal against Maine Farmington also proved to be the eventual game winner for the Pride.

Regis (3-2) will be in action again on Wednesday afternoon as they host Sage at 4:30 p.m.
