Pride Men’s Cross Country Finishes Fourth at GNAC Championships

STANDISH, Maine - For the second consecutive year, a First Team All-GNAC performance by Benjamin Happenny (Woonsocket, R.I.) leads the Regis College men's cross country team to a fourth place finish at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championships, hosted by Saint Joseph's College.

Happenny finished in sixth place with an eight-kilometer time of 30:23.7, earning First Team All-GNAC honors for the second straight season. He averaged 6:06.8 per mile as he finished 11 seconds in front of his nearest competitor.

Zach Sigman (Buffalo, N.Y.) was the next Pride runner to cross the finish line, ending up in 21st place with a time of 32:08.4. AJ Corso (Broad Brook, Conn.) finished in 43rd place overall with a time of 36:10.5, followed by Chris Margiatto (Suffield, Conn.) in 54th place with a time of 37:54.7.

Ben O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) completed the course in 39:02.1 to cross the finish line in 58th place, and Jacob O'Neal (New Britain, Conn.) posted a time of 39:21.1 to finish in 61st place overall.

As a team, the Pride finished in fourth place with 131 points. With five runners in the top 15, Norwich took the team title with 37 points, followed by Colby-Sawyer College with 51 points and Saint Joseph's College with 53 points. Troy Hendricks of the host Monks took the individual title with a time of 29:42.4, just 1.7 seconds in front of his teammate Devin Abbott.

Regis College will return to the state of Maine in two weeks, traveling to Bowdoin College for the NCAA East Regional Saturday, Nov. 12, with the men's eight-kilometer race scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
