Men's & Women's Cross Country Both Fourth in GNAC Pre-Championship Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's and women's cross country teams both finished in fourth as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference released its Pre-Championship poll on Thursday afternoon. 

The women's team made the biggest jump up the polls of any men's or women's team since the Preseason Poll was released on August 30. The Pride jumped from eighth in the Preseason Poll, up four spots to fourth. The Pride finished with 99 points, narrowly edging out Johnson & Wales with 98 points. Simmons, with eight of 12 first place votes and 137 points, was selected to win the championship.

On the men's side, the Pride jumped up from a fifth place tie in the Preseason Poll into the fourth position in the Pre-Championship Poll. The Pride is one of just two teams to move up in the poll since August, joining Lasell, who jumped from seventh to sixth. The Pride got 67 points in the poll, finished ahead of Saint Joseph's (Me.) with 59 points and behind Johnson & Wales with 76.

Both the men's and women's GNAC Championships will take place on Saturday, hosted by Johnson & Wales at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. The women's race will get started at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's race at 2:00 p.m.
