Cross Country Gives Back At Donna Froio DeLena Memorial 5k

MALDEN, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) cross country team gave back on Saturday at a very special event with close ties to the program. The Donna Froio DeLena Memorial 5k was put on for the first time in honor of Donna Froio DeLena, Pride track and field sprinter Cassie Froio’s aunt who passed away from cancer at a young age.

Members of both teams were spread out throughout the course directing runners and supplying water to runners.

"The Froio family put on a great event today," said Pride head coach Kourtney Bonsey. "I am happy that our team was able to be a part of it."

The proceeds from this event help fund for the Donna Froio DeLena Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to deserving Malden High School Band members, and is open to all Senior Class Members of the Malden High School Band.

The Fund was established in 2016 to honor the memory of Donna A. (Froio) DeLena, who sadly passed away from cancer on June 29, 2016 and is given in loving memory of Donna, Malden High School Class of 1980, Band Member (clarinet) and past Band President.
