Pride Cross Country Teams Close Season At NCAA Regionals

GORHAM, Maine – The Regis (Mass.) men's and women's cross country teams put a cap on the season today, competing in the NCAA Division III New England Cross Country Championships Saturday hosted by the University of Southern Maine

Molly Curtin (Brockton, Mass.) had a stellar showing on the women's 6K race. She was the top finisher from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, showcasing a time of 22:56.6 good for 72nd out of nearly 400 runners.

Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) was the second Pride runner to finish, placing 148th with a time of 23:55.8. Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) also finished in the front half at 176th (24:12.2) with Megan Bubello (Framingham, Mass.) (26:33) and Joelle Bockus (Windham, Maine) the final Regis runners to cross the finish line.

In the men's 8K, JJ Pederson (Milford, Conn.) was the top finisher for the Pride just outside the top 200 (203) with a time of 29:19.1. The top four Regis runners were not far off from each other. Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) placed 214th (29:31.4), Nicholas Sahagian (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 222nd (29:42) and Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) 228th (29:49.4). Sean Toomy (Salem, N.H.) was the final Regis finisher, running the race in 31:12 good for 278th place.

As a team, the Pride women finished 35th out of 56 teams with the men placing 36th out of 55 teams.

MIT won the team competitions in both the men's and women's side. Kaitlyn Mooney (Coast Guard) was the top finisher in the women's race and Sam Brunnette (Plymouth State) won the men's race.

Several runners from both teams will now join the Pride track and field squad for its indoor season which begins in December.
