Cross Country Competes At James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – With the GNAC Championships on the horizon, the Regis (Mass.) men's and women's cross country teams returned to the course for the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University Saturday at Stanley Park.

The men's team had a solid morning, placing 18th out of a 37-team field. JJ Pedersen (Milford, Conn.) led the Pride with a 49th-place finish out of a field of 266 competitors, running a personal best time of 28:10. Shane Romanchick (Trumbull, Conn.) placed 73rd overall with a time of 28:41. Jovan Sematimba (Burlington, Mass.) finished in a time of 29:20, Sean Toomey (Salem, N.H.) crossed the finish line at 30:00 and Sam Mildrum (Hingham, Mass.) rounded out the top 5, finishing in 32:06.

On the ladies side, Regis only fielded four runners so did not factor in the team standings but had several quality performances in the 260-runner race. Maggie Mann (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) led the Pride with a 35th place finish (19:48) and Maddie Boucias (Buckland, Mass.) finished close behind in 57th with a time of 20:15.

Rounding out the Regis women's finishers were Megan Bubello (Framingham, Mass.) (22:16) and Joelle Bockus (Windham, Maine) (23:53).

Regis has one race remaining before taking on the field at the program's first-ever GNAC Championships. The Pride compete next Friday, Oct. 13 at the Saints Invitational in Boston.
