
REGIS MEN TABBED SECOND IN POLLS
The New England Collegiate Conference cross country preseason polls were announced this past weekend, and the Regis men were picked second, while the women were picked third in a vote conducted by the league’s coaches. Both teams received two of a possible eight first place votes.
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – The New England Collegiate Conference cross country preseason polls were announced this past weekend, and the Regis men were picked second, while the women were picked third in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. Both teams received two of a possible eight first place votes.
The Regis College men received 53 total points in the poll. Team captain and sophomore Matt Norton (Weymouth, Mass.), the 2013 NECC Rookie of the Year, leads a roster of three upperclassmen and a collection of young runners, including Matt Mona (Barkhasted, Conn.).
Lesley finished first in the men's polls with 53 points, tying Regis, but getting a third first place vote. Mitchell College was selected to finish third, earning a pair of first place votes, while Southern Vermont grabbed one first place vote and was selected to finish fourth. Rounding out the poll was Elms, Newbury, Daniel Webster, and Wheelock.
