Men’s Volleyball Defeated in GNAC Matchup
WESTON, Mass. - Regis College was defeated by Lasell University, 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-18), Thursday night in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's volleyball match at Higgins Court.
 
Josh Nolen (Falls Church, Va.) led the Pride with six kills while Brendan Lam (Rockville, Md.) contributed 10 assists and four digs.
 
The visitors attacked the Pride from the onset of the first set, quickly asserting a 5-1 advantage over the home team. Regis fought to keep the set close, trading points with Lasell until a three-point scoring run put the visitors up 18-10, prompting a timeout by Regis. The Pride closed to within five points before a service error clinched the opening set for the Lasers.
 
After Regis scored the first point of the set on a service ace by Lam, Lasell would go on a 10-point scoring run to take a significant advantage over the Pride. The Lasers held onto the lead throughout the rest of the set, closing it out on a service ace by Dexter Thomas.
 
The third and final set played out similarly to the previous two with Lasell scoring the first three points to take the early lead. After consecutive blocks by the Pride closed their deficit to 24-18, the Lasers completed the sweep on a kill by Jan Baranowski. 
 
Lasell was led by Jordan Shinaut with 12 kills and six digs. Theo Zaharewicz contributed nine kills, and Baranowski had eight kills on nine attempts for a .889 hitting percentage.
 
Regis College (12-14, 7-7 GNAC) concludes the regular season by hosting a tri-match against Wentworth and Rivier Saturday, Apr. 2, with the Pride's matches beginning at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Senior Day presentation will take place before the first match. Lasell University (19-8, 12-2 GNAC) wraps up its regular season with a tri-match hosted by Colby-Sawyer Saturday, with its matches at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
