DUDLEY, Mass. – The Regis College men's volleyball team lost to Nichols College Wednesday night, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 26-24), in a non-conference contest held at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Inelson Alves (Brockton, Mass.) once again led the Pride offensively with 11 kills, while Fernando Gomez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) finished with six kills and two total blocks. Brendan Lam (Rockville, Md.) collected 25 assists in the match, and libero Zabdiel Frias (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) paced the Pride backline with eight defensive digs.

Regis opened a 7-3 lead to start the match, including a service ace from Marcello Cappuccio (Scotch Plains, N.J.), but Nichols came back with a 9-2 scoring run, led by Ray Wang with three kills and three service aces, to pull ahead, 16-12. The teams basically exchanged points the rest of the way, with the Bison clinching the first set on a Pride attack error.

After another block by Gomez and Stewart tied the set at 16-16, Nichols took the lead for good on a kill by Collin Hunter, with another Hunter kill closing out the second set for the Bison.

The third set began in Nichols' favor, as Wang followed a kill with a service ace to give the Bison a 7-3 advantage. Down 23-19 after a block by Ethan Powers, Regis rallied by scoring five of the next six points to tie the set at 24-24. However, Nichols would finish off the set and the match with a kill by Jake Harasyko and a Pride attack error.

Wang led Nichols with 16 kills on a .448 hitting percentage along with five service aces and five digs. Lance Law finished with eight kills and seven digs, and Hunter led the Bison defensively with eight digs to go along with four kills and a solo block.
