Men's Volleyball Picked to Finish Fifth in GNAC Preseason Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Regis (Mass.) men's volleyball team has been chosen to finish fifth in the team's first season in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference, as the preseason poll was announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.

The Pride received 32 points in the poll, finishing ahead of Emmanuel (22), Emerson (20) and Mount Ida (10).

Wentworth was chosen atop the poll, receiving seven out of eight first place votes and a total of 63 points. The Leopards are the two-time defending GNAC champions, and last spring advanced all the way to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament before falling in five sets to SUNY New Paltz. Receiving the final first place vote and finishing second was Rivier University, with Johnson & Wales and Lasell rounding out the top four.

The Pride is just a week away from opening up its 2018 season, as the team kicks off with a road match against MIT on January 23. The Pride’s first home match comes two weeks later, when the team hosts Pine Manor on February 7, and the team plays its first ever GNAC match on the road at Mount Ida on February 24.
